Waterloo Gun and Bocce Club - April 22, 2014

Tuesday Buffet at Waterloo G&B Club
4343 N Ashley Ln, Stockton, CA 95215

Today is the day that was originally planned for the Lunch Bunch's trip here.
Because the main course today is Trippa a la Florentine.  But there is a second main today.  It is Rosemary Chicken.  Today's pasta is Tortellini in pesto sauce.
Ken, Dan and I arrive about 20 minutes early

Elsa gets here a few minutes later

At about 5 minutes past Noon the serving line opens.  Here are the two mains.
Herb roasted chicken above and Tripe a la Florentine
Mixed seasonal veggies, Tortellini with pesto sauce and the chicken

Ken is the first one of us in line.
Dan and Elsa are on the other side of the table
Here is a better look at Elsa and Dan
The server has a nice smile

Dan is getting his dinner roll
 Dan's plate
No tripe
Ken has a bit of everything
Lots of tortellini
Elsa has everything but much more tripe
Next month's Tuesday Buffet Menu
Now is when I go get my food
I still have no food
Here is my plate.  The chicken looked good but my goal was to eat the tripe.
No chicken
An unexpected guest.  Loreen is here to schedule a banquet and I saw her and invited her to join us for lunch.  She had to finish booking her event so is the last to get her food.
Her brother Jayson runs Louie's Market where I have my Wednesday lunches
I had seconds so these are my plates in front of my dessert dish.
A brownie and coffee for dessert
Having a bull session after lunch.
We are almost the last to leave
They had a print of their May 2014 Tuesday Buffet Menu.
Next month looks pretty good

Oh yes.  The cost is $12 per person and includes everything but the bar items.  Salad, coffee, dessert and sales tax are included in the $12.

I am especially looking forward to the June 3rd Buffet, Roasted Pork Ribs done over a barrel.

SJDC Student Chef - April 15, 2014

Student Chef
April 15, 2014

This is the last week of this semester that the Student Chef at the local community college will be open.  This is run by the students in the Culinary Arts Department of San Joaquin Delta College.  They are open two days a week for lunch for just a short time each semester.  The Spring semester is cut short since the students will be operating a booth at the Annual Stockton Asparagus Festival which they do each year.

The bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start

The dining room seats about 36

I forgot to take photos of my appetizer, Duck Tacos.  (roast duck breast, shredded cabbage and mango in a crispy fried wonton shell drizzled with hoisin and sweet Thai chili sauce)  I devoured them rather quickly.
My grilled salmon

Ken and Patti had the Lamb Meatballs

Cutting into the meatball

Elsa had the Salmon Pasta

Of course we all had dessert.  The ladies had the Apple Fritters while the men had the Fresh Strawberry Cobbler.
Apple Fitters with Vanilla Bean Gelato
apple baton, apple crisps, cinnamon gelato and butterscotch sauce

Stockton Golf & Country Club - April 9, 2014

Stockton Golf & Country Club

April 9, 2014

This could also be called a Reunion for Grant Elementary School since 6 of the 11 of us at lunch today went to Grant School.  We all started there when it only had 5 classrooms and a principal's office.  The six are Ken, Grandma, Patti, Linda, Elaine and me.

Anyway two of the newest members of Gobo's Lunch Bunch - Ray and Judy are members here and the rest of us are their guests.

The current Clubhouse was completed in 2006 but the Club is celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year.
Plaque showing the new building date
The club sits on the east bank of the Stockton Deep Water Channel, ocean going freighters use this to get to the Port of Stockton.  Interestingly one of the Google Barges is docked on the west bank just opposite the club's parking lot.
Long photo through the trees

A clearer photo
No golf today as the semi-annual "punching of the greens" was just finished.  For you non-golfers twice a year the 18 greens of a course are aerated with significant sized plugs of earth.  So courses are closed for play for a few days twice a year.
Never the less grass continues to grow so you gotta mow that
There is a small watercraft at the far left of the photo.
First fairway moves away from the water to the right
Linda and Patti greet each other.
That's Ken's back
Gobo is attending today because he wanted to get a closer look at the Google Barge.
Linda gives him a hug

Ken shakes his hand
We set up the lunch for 11:00am so we are the only group in the dining room.
Getting seated at the table

We have the whole room to ourselves
Elsa finally arrives.  Just in time to order.
One more to go
Elsa ha the Daily Special - Chicken Marsala

This is their Monterey Sandwich - crab meat and bay shrimp with avocado and lettuce with lemon dill aioli on toasted sourdough bread.

Gobo has the California Burger - with avocado, bacon, tomato and jack cheese.

Gobo's sandwich
Ray has the Bifsteak Sandwich.  Shaved roast beef with sauteed onion, Swiss cheese, avocado and garlic mayo

Judy had a Chicken Salad.

"Hmm.  Where should I start?"

Polly also had a Monterey Sandwich

Grandma gets here at last as she first had to finish her tennis match.  So she is still in her tennis outfit.

Everyone is already eating - that is except for Patti who has ordered the Falafel in Pita.

Patti still does not have her sandwich.

My Clubhouse is the next to last order with fresh cooked potato chips.
That's one sandwich
Patti finally gets her Falafel in Pita but they forgot to bring her yogurt sauce.

Grandma also ordered the Falafel in Pita and got hers right away.

The girls decide to share dessert.  Six of them are splitting 3 Molten Lava Cakes.
Okay Linda cut that in half

Grandma cutting one in half
Elsa and Linda split one.
Hey your piece if bigger than mine!
